Stamp duty, also known as transfer duty, is a state government tax charged when you purchase or acquire property in Queensland. The amount payable depends on the property's value and whether you are an owner-occupier or investor.
QLD Stamp Duty Rates (2024-25)

| $5,001 - $75,000 | 1.50% on value over $5,000 |
| $75,001 - $540,000 | $1,050 + 3.50% on value over $75,000 |
| $540,001 - $1,000,000 | $17,325 + 4.50% on value over $540,000 |
| Over $1,000,000 | $38,025 + 5.75% on value over $1,000,000 |
First Home Buyer Concessions
Queensland offers stamp duty concessions for eligible first home buyers purchasing a home they intend to live in:
- Properties valued up to $500,000 are exempt from stamp duty
- Properties valued between $500,001 and $550,000 receive a partial concession
- Properties valued over $550,000 receive no concession
